The Gospel in ONE VERSE

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

2 Corinthians 5:21

God: Creator of the universe and all that is in it. (Genesis 1)

Christ: Jesus the Messiah, the Word, God’s only Son, God with skin on. (John 1)

Who never sinned: Jesus lived approximately 33 years on the planet, and was subjected to temptation as we all are, but never sinned. (The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John)

Sin: rebellion against God. Anything less than absolute perfection in thought, word, and deed. We are all guilty of (Romans 3:23) and condemned by our sin. (Romans 6:23)

To be the offering for our sin: Jesus was condemned and executed as a criminal, crucified outside of Jerusalem. He offered himself as the perfect Lamb of God, the sacrifice needed to wash away our sin. (Hebrews 10)

So that we: anyone and everyone who accepts this truth, turns from her sin and gives her life to Jesus. (John 3:16-17, and Romans 10:9-13)

Could be made right with God: We can be forgiven, clean, healed, accepted, adopted, united, and in the everlasting presence of our Creator, the Lover of our souls. (Romans 6:23 and 8:1, Galatians 3:26-4:7 and elaboration on the theme throughout Scripture)

Through Christ: through Jesus, and only through Jesus. Nor is there any other way to go about it all. (Acts 4:12)
